Late Work

Assignments are due before the START of class.
Late work will receive a 20% deduction.
Work not submitted within 48 hours after due date will be a 0.

All submissions will be through blackboard assignments.

If you have Accommodations:

You must email me before the due date.

Let me know what accommodation you are using.

Extra time accommodations are due 48 hours after the due date.

After that 48 hours the grade will be a 0.

Assignment 1

Character Design + Walk - 20%

Due before start of class 5.

  • Come up with your own unique character.

  • If your uncomfortable modeling you may use the bear model provided on blackboard.

  • Collect and post reference on blackboard journal.

  • Put the character through Mixamo and add a walk cycle.

  • Walk Cycle will be 240 frames with a 360 rotation from frame 40-200.

  • Adjust Shaders to your liking.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

  • Resolution: 1920x1080 -  h.264 codec

Grading: 10pts

  • 2pt  -  Creativity

  • 2pt  -  Modeling Detail

  • 2pt  -  Surfacing Detail

  • 2pt  -  Instructions Followed

  • 2pt  -  Render Quality

Assignment 2
Grooming - 20%

Due Before Start of Class 9

  • Address notes from assignment 1.

  • Add a hair groom to your character.

  • Collect and post reference on blackboard journal.

  • Groom your fur to match the reference.

  • The following attributes at minimum should have some sort of mask.

    • density

    • length

    • clump

  • When posting in the journal for critique include your reference.

  • Render your turntable walk from assignment 1 with your new groom.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

  • Resolution: 1920x1080 -  h.264 codec

 

Grading: 10pts

  • 6pt  -  Groom Quality

  • 2pt  -  Instructions Followed

  • 2pt  -  Render Quality

Assignment 3
Clothes - 20%

Due before start of class 13.

  • Model and surface a shirt for your character to wear.

  • Simulate the Shirt.

  • Simulate any long hair.

  • Re-Render the walk cycle again with new additions.

  • Do not include the run-up.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

Grading: 10pts

  • 3pt  -  Weight

  • 3pt  -  Collisions Accuracy

  • 2pt  -  Stability (no noise, vibration, squirming)

  • 2pt  -  Presentation / Instructions Followed / Participation

Assignment 4
Ragdoll Simulation- 20%

Due before start of class 16

  • Create a rag-doll simulation of your character.

    • Body, Clothes and Hair are all simulated.

  • Remember to lock your camera and set your frame range.

  • Make this look as good as you possibly can.

  • Apply everything you have learned in all your other classes.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

 

Grading: 10pts

  • 2pt  -  Cloth Simulation Quality

  • 2pt -   Hair Simulation Quality

  • 2pt  -  Body Simulation Quality

  • 2pt  -  Collisions Accuracy / Stability (no noise, vibration, squirming)

  • 2pt  -  Presentation / Instructions Followed / Participation

Assignment 5
Custom Shot - 20%
Due before start of class 20
  • Simulate your clothes and hair on a mixamo animation of your choice.

  • Use the animation to setup a well composed shot.

  • Remember to lock your camera and set your frame range.

  • Make this look as good as you possibly can. Apply everything you have learned in all your other classes.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

Grading: 10pts

  • 2pt  -  Cloth Simulation Quality

  • 2pt -   Hair Simulation Quality

  • 2pt  -  Collisions Accuracy
