Course Info

Assignments are due before the START of class.
Late work will receive a 20% deduction.
Work not submitted within 48 hours after due date will be a 0.

All submissions will be through blackboard assignments.

If you have Accommodations:

You must email me before the due date.

Let me know what accommodation you are using.

Extra time accommodations are due 48 hours after the due date.

After that 48 hours the grade will be a 0.

Naming convention: SAV_YearQUARTER_DEPT_FirstnameLastname_Deadline#.extension

Specs:

Still Image- Resolution of 1920x1080 uncompressed .png

Playblasts - 24 fps -  Resolution of 1920x1080 encoded as a .mp4 using the h.264 codec.

Renders - 24fps - Resolution of at least 960x540 encoded as a .mp4 using the h.264 codec.

Assignment 1

Pancake Flip Warm-up - 15%

Due before start of class 4.

  • Create a pancake flip simulation.

  • Submit a .mp4 movie based on the Specs section at the top of the page. Rendering is preferred. 1 point will be deducted for a play blast.

  • Match the timing and framing of the example --->

  • Colors and textures can be abstract.

  • Students are responsible for all assets.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

  • Follow the naming convention at the top of the page.

Grading: 10pts

  • 3pt  -  Weight

  • 3pt  -  Collisions Accuracy

  • 2pt  -  Stability (no noise, vibration, squirming)

  • 2pt  -  Presentation / Instructions Followed / Participation

Clothing Models - 20%

Due Before Start of Class 7

  • Find a soccer uniform to recreate.

  • Post a reference photo on blackboard Assignment 2

  • Left - Surfaced renderMesh

  • Middle - lowest res simCage with wireframe

  • Right - renderMesh with checker pattern and wireframe

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

 

Grading: 10pts

  • 3pt  -  Topology

  • 3pt  -  UV

  • 2pt  -  Surfacing

Assignment 3
Clothing Walk Cycle - 20%

Due before start of class 10.

  • Simulate your Outfit on the provided walk cycle.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

  • Video should be at least 5 seconds @ 24pfs.

  • Do not include the run-up.

  • Composite four 960x540 or renders into one 1920x1080 frame.

 

Grading: 10pts

  • 3pt  -  Weight

Assignment 4
Hair Groom- 20%

Due before start of class 15

  • Find a short hairstyle to recreate. Keep it simple. It's harder than it looks.

  • Post a reference photos on the discussion board.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

  • Match Layout on right --->

 

Grading: 10pts

  • 6pt  -  Groom quality vs Reference image.

  • 2pt  -  Surfacing

Assignment 5
Final Shot - 20%
Due before start of class 20
  • Simulate your clothes and hair on a mixamo animation of your choice.

  • Use the animation to setup a well composed shot.

  • Remember to lock your camera and set your frame range.

  • Submit a 960x540 rendered movie. (You can go higher res if you want.)

  • Make this look as good as you possibly can. Apply everything you have learned in all your other classes.

  • Submit through blackboard Assignments for grading.

  • Post your work on the discussion board for review.

Grading: 10pts

  • 2pt  -  Cloth Simulation Quality

  • 2pt -   Hair Simulation Quality

  • 2pt  -  Collisions Accuracy
